Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas, has written a letter to the Obama administration's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs questioning the cost-benefit analysis of the proposed USDA livestock competition rule. Roberts states in a letter to Cass Sunstein, administrator for the office, that the rule "would limit consumer choice and drive up costs." Roberts states the effect on consumers is left out of the analysis.

USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration provides some economic analysis of the proposed rule towards the bottom of the Federal Register posting, showing mostly information on the type of producer that would b affected. GIPSA ...
